California Eviction Moratorium Update – June 26, 2021

Good Morning All,

Recap from this past week:

LA County Board of Supervisors passed the extension of the eviction moratorium 5-0 to September 30th. Confirmed that a substantial remodel moratorium agenda item coming July 6th. On the surface the agenda item is to fix a “loophole” in LB’s Just Cause Ordinance under the substantial remodel language. However, there will be a request to city staff to come back in 90 days with ideas/options once the moratorium expires to keep people from getting evicted.

I have also attached a front page article about the State of California and what the Gov is waiting to sign that I thought you might be interested in reading. The key point for me to call out to everyone is that “paying 100% of all the deferred rent owed; is a bit of misnomer as there are strings still attached based upon income; therefore not all can apply.

As a reminder, Councilwoman Suzie Price, (our best advocate at the local level) has a fundraiser on June 30th that SPOA and the Apartment Association of California Southern Cities is hosting at the Airport Marriott on Lakewood and Spring. The event is from 5:30 to 7:30pm and I encourage you to attend. The maximum donation is $400. If you want more info on this event, please let me know. Have a great weekend.
